It didn't kill me!

I never thought that I could be so sick I might die before this past week. It was a very unhappy ending to a great Christmas week. I had gotten Christmas ready and the kids were very happy Christmas morning. We spent time with John's family on Christmas Eve and went to my sisters house for dinner and the Charger game on Christmas day. It was around this time at my sisters house that my throat really started to hurt and I had a sore behind my upper teeth (almost like I had eaten a chip that had jabbed me when I bit into it).

For the rest of the weekend I was pretty much passed out and taking NyQuil to sleep and I was in a lot of pain. Monday I dragged myself to the doctor who said she had never seen a bacterial infection spread the way mine was and she was afraid I had some sort of "flesh eating" bacteria spreading from my throat into my mouth and ears. Yeah, it was REALLY painful and gross.

So for the past four days I have been in bed on antibiotics trying to eat and drink just enough that I didn't have to go to the hospital for an IV. I actually had a dream (nightmare) that they had to remove all my teeth and jaw and I was left horribly disfigured. Well, the infection is subsiding and I can swallow and talk enough to appear alive again. Thank goodness for "instant breakfast" shakes. I have been living on those and broth for a week now.

For those of you who might read this before Sunday, please say a prayer for me that I heal fast enough to not look like a crazy person to my little 6 year olds whom I get to begin teaching tomorrow at church. I got my first teaching calling and I am really excited to have a class every week. Bonus - there are only four of them! :) It should be fun while I am here in Ramona and I am extra happy that our block starts at 11:00 now instead of 9:00, sleeping in sounds awesome.

That is FREAKY!!! Wowee!!! I am so glad you are okay. Jon has been asking all vacation if he could play with Eric. I kept saying it was too far away. Now I wish I would have at least called. We could have taken the kids off your hands. Sorry.
