Well, that's annoying!

I consider myself a reasonable person, and I have exercised a great deal of patience with my latest job endeavor, but I feel very annoyed at how I received the rejection for the job. I have spent nearly two months waiting and driving to La Mesa four times to go through the interview process they have at Helix. I got so close to getting the job and poured myself and all my history out to the three people on the hiring panel, would it have been so hard for them to call me personally and let me know they chose someone else? Today I got a letter in the mail (dated yesterday) thanking me for my interest and telling me I have not been selected. I have literally been staying in my house all day since Monday waiting for them to call so I wouldn't miss it and all I get after my two month process is a letter? I am really not that upset that I got rejected (I know I could have rocked that job) but it was far away and almost full time. I guess it wasn't meant to be, and now I can move on to other prospects.

Thanks to everyone who gave me the encouragement to keep going with the process!

Reunion

This week I had a very special reunion with my closest girl friend from high school. I had not seen her for about 10 years and had lost contact with her shortly after Eric was born 8 years ago. We got to visit and catch up on the life details for most of the afternoon and we took the kids to the park where it was so beautiful outside! I am so blessed to have found a person who has meant so much to me and to have her in my life again. I love you Becky!
And for those who are wondering how I found my friend after such a long time, the answer is Facebook. Anyone who is looking for someone should really join a site like Facebook, it is amazing how easy it is to find people who you know all over the country. (Jeez, I sound like I should be getting paid to advertise or something, right?) :)

Helix, round two

I have been on an anxiety roller coaster for over a month now. The job that I am trying for is the only part time position I have found that pays this well and offers benefits since I left my job in December. I knew the competition would be fierce, but I didn't expect them to really take this long! Here is how it has played out for me so far...

January 6 - Job posted online
January 14 - Sent in the application to HR
January 26 - Got request to skills test call
February 3 - Skills assessment
February 6 - Got interview call
February 13 - Panel interview
February 17 - Got 2nd interview call
February 20 - 2nd interview

I can't stand it...obviously we are all equally qualified people if they need a second round of interviews to figure out who they really like, and who fits the best. When I was on the phone with HR I could litterally feel my pulse pounding in my throat! Blogging about it has made me feel better though. Keep me in your prayers, I really hope this is the right path for me, and I hope I don't suffer a stroke with all the waiting! :)

Happy Valentine's Day!

I am not 100% sure how I feel about this holiday. I do appreciate the opportunity to tell everyone I love how much they mean to me, but do I really have to spend the money (I don't have) on extra gifts?

I guess a simple note to everyone who has touched my life will do...

I LOVE YOU!!
Happy Valentine's Day. :)

I love you John!

Katie's 3rd Birthday!!

Katie turned three yesterday! I can't believe how fast the years are flying by! She was such a sweet baby, I miss it so much! :)

We had a great dinner/dessert with both of John and my parents and both of our sisters and cousins. Katie received a bunch of clothes from everyone and every time she opened a new outfit she had to try it on. It was really funny! There was no way to get her to move on without the "new" clothes on.

Many of my pictures came out too dark but I captured a great moment after she blew out the candles when she all but squealed in hysterical happiness.

I love you Katie!

Why did you do that?

Katie's new thing these days seems to be dumping out any liquid container that she can get a hold of on the ground and then drinking it. It started with my water bottles on the area rug (twice), then the juice from her cup outside on the ground (see previous post) and today she topped all of those.

I was getting ready for a pre-interview job skills assessment at Helix Water District. I had gotten mostly ready but went upstairs to finish my makeup, I only wear eyeliner and mascara so it wasn't very long. When I walked into the living room I heard sucking sounds and saw her...she had taken our gallon sized pitcher of orange juice drink (the cannery kind) and poured what was left in it onto the carpet and was sucking it up with her mouth. Gross!!!

Again, I didn't ask her to keep doing it so I could get the shot, but with 30 minutes to go before I had to leave for my interview/test I was not happy with having to pull out the carpet cleaner to suck all the punch out of the carpet while wearing my good work clothes.

I can't seem to identify the logic behind these acts. Why would anyone (at any age) want to drink juice off of the ground or suck it out of carpet? Obviously she doesn't have any texture problems...maybe that's why she'll eat anything too. Seriously, is it just Katie or are other children out there like her too?

Here's the photo of the spill with the empty pitcher...it looks gross, I know.
Orange drink on tan carpet = dark brown stain.
