I never knew such an important task was still on my list of things to do until I started freaking out about a week ago that I was going to serve a really bad turkey to my family. I swore it would either be really dry (like many of my moms in the past) or undercooked or anything horrible. It was a 23 lb turkey too, which seemed way too big for 8 people. So now that it's over and the turkey was great I feel very accomplished. My Food Network TV addiction is at least benefiting the people who have to eat the food I cook.
The only sad memory of the event is that I didn't take more pictures of my success. Thankfully my thoughtful husband John snapped this one picture while I was waiting for the temperature probe to be done. No Norman Rockwell moment for me! :(
At least you can see the color is pretty underneath the foil.

HOORAY! Congrats! No matter how many times you cook the turkey, it's always nerve racking! It looks DELISH!
Hey, I need to chat with you about Friday. I'll call your cell phone tomorrow!
Yay for your turkey! I cooked my first one last year.
Sandy, I just found your blog. I love it. Good job for making a turkey. I'm inspired. I still have avoided making one. It really intimidates me.
